WE BELIEVE IN CHANGE
Our model for grassroots community activism takes a variety forms:
Black history projects that document and preserve local history
Black leadership and empowerment events and opportunities
Direct action protests that dismantle white supremacy
Ally trainings and community-building events that strengthen our cross-racial coalition
Listening and truth-telling circles that facilitate collective healing
Join us in our efforts to create a more inclusive community that confronts racial injustice in the deep South.
“IF THERE IS NO STRUGGLE, THERE IS NO PROGRESS”
COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT
Change begins locally. We empower our community to take the lead on issues of racial injustice
and to demand accountability from local officials. We advocate for a greater presence of Black
leadership and Black history in our city and its cultural institutions.
COMMUNCATION
We confront racism by initiating and facilitating dialogue through community events and
forums, open letters, local press, and on our social media platforms.
EDUCATION
We empower our community to confront racism through educational frameworks such as virtual panel discussions and educators’ resource packets. We also work with local schools to incorporate local Black history into their curricula.
