Black Mothers Emergency Fund

PSS created the Black Mother’s Emergency Fund to support Single Black women and Black women serving as safety plans for abused and neglected children. We also offer scholarships for Black women to become licensed Doulas and crowdsource micro-grants to help pay for these services in at-risk counties. Alabama’s Black women are four times more likely to die from pregnancy complications within a state that currently ranks third-worst in the country. Licensed Doulas can become an inexpensive solution for prenatal care throughout the rural Black Belt.
